feel the rain

my mama told me “bloom where you are planted,”

i said but i’m just right here,

yeah i’m just right here.

my mama told me don’t listen to the banter,

but sometimes that’s all that sang into my ears.

gray skies, they can be like that,

yeah, gray skies can be like that.

and when i told her it was heavy and i couldn’t see the light,

she said “son, listen close, it will be alright,

yeah, listen son, it will be alright...

because...

the thicker the clouds, the harder the rain,

the grass and the trees, they first feel the pain,

then they grow, yeah they grow,

then they grow, like you’ll grow,

so when the sky turns gray, and the storm rolls in,

be prepared for a drink and you take it all in.

don’t be scared of the feelin of the rain on your skin.

son, if you could see what i see you’d lose all that worry,

if you could see what isee, then you’d slow all your hurry,

feel the rain, feel the rain, let it wash away your pain.

every storm has its reason,

...this is only just a season.

cause the sun will shine again...

until then...

feel the rain.”

i started checking all the boxes and crossing off the list,

but the pressures were mounting, could i carry all of this?

for a young dad it felt weary, so i asked my sweet wife,

could she help me slow this down, see the photos in real time?

gray skies, they can be like that,

yeah, gray skies can be like that.

and she said, “boy, listen close, it will be alright,

yeah We’ll carry this load and it will

be alright

because...

the thicker the clouds, the harder the rain,

the grass and the trees, they first feel the pain,

then they grow, yeah they grow,

then they grow, like you’ll grow,

so when the sky turns gray, and the storm rolls in,

be prepared for a drink and you take it all in.

don’t be scared of the feelin of the rain on, your skin.

boy, if you could see what i see you’d lose all that worry,

if you could see what i see, then you’d slow all your hurry,

feel the rain, feel the rain, let it wash away your pain.

every storm has its reason,

...this is only just a season.

cause the sun will shine again...

until then...

feel the rain.

my brother finished his song, and he left us all here.

it was dark, it was cold, and with loss came the fear.

i fell on my knees and i had to ask why,

this was one of the great ones,

so i asked God why.

gray skies, they can be like that,

yeah, gray skies can be like that.

and He said, “son, listen close, it will be alright,

listen son, it will be alright...

because...

the thicker the clouds, the harder the rain,

the grass and the trees, they first feel the pain,

then they grow, yeah they grow,

then they grow, like you’ll grow,

so when the sky turns gray, and the storm rolls in,

be prepared for a drink and you take it all in.

don’t be scared of the feelin of the rain on your skin.

son, if you could see what I see you’d lose all that worry,

if you could see what I see, then you’d slow all your hurry,

feel the rain, feel the rain, let it wash away your pain.

every storm has its reason,

...this is only just a season.

cause the sun will shine again...

until then...

feel the rain.

so when pain is the bag i carry by my side,

and clouds and darkness gather in the sky,

i set it down and i remember my thirst,

yeah i lay it down as i hear the words:

feel the rain, feel the rain, let it wash away your pain.

every storm has its reason,

... this is only just a season.

cause the sun will shine again...

until then...

feel the rain.
